National Cycle Celebrates 75th Anniversary at Indianapolis Dealer Expo!
National Cycle continues their 2012 season and their 75th year in business at this year's Indianapolis Dealer Expo.
The end of the event's first day culminated in a hosted champagne party (we get a kick from champagne) attended by our dealers, distributors, industry press and good friends.
More 75th Anniversary news (and, hopefully, more champagne) to come.
National Cycle Celebrates 75th Anniversary at EICMA!
National Cycle kicks off the 2012 season and their 75th year in business at the world famous EICMA motorcycle trade show in Milan, Italy.
Owners Ann and Barry Willey attended along with European Manager Jason Howard, Sales Manager Paul Gomez, and Sales Representative Greg Salgado.
As in years past, National Cycle displayed all their newest products, but this year's booth also featured a "Wall of History" display with photos of the company's progress from 1937 to today. Accompanying the history exhibit were several cases of champagne so that our worldwide dealers and distributors could celebrate with us!

Jared Wins Again!

Following a third place finish in Lima, OH on June 25th and another third place in Hagerstown, MD on July 9th, Jammin' Jared Mees roared ahead of the pack for the First Place podium finish at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, MI on July 23rd.
"This is a race I have been itching to win for years now. I have come close several times, finishing 2nd to Kenny Coolbeth one year, and at another time I had a good shot at it but three laps from the finish I had a flat tire. Like Hagerstown, it is just one of those races I have really wanted to win. It’s my adopted hometown crowd and a lot of friends come out to watch this race which gets pretty hyped up around the area."

Jared Makes It Two in a Row!

National Cycle sponsored Jared Mees pulled off a Hat Trick on Saturday night at the Hartford, MI Grand National Flat Track event.
After a first place finish at the legendary Springfield Mile on Memorial Day weekend, Jared followed up by taking the Heat, Dash for Cash and the Main Event at Michigan.

Jared Mees Places 1st in Springfield Mile!

National Cycle sponsored racer #9 Jared Mees won the 2011 Springfield Mile by coming out of #7 Sammy Halpert's slipstream at the last second and edging past him at the finish line. Mees officially won by .016 of a second.
The win for Jared Mees was his seventh career AMA Grand National victory, and his first victory on the historic track on the grounds of the Illinois State Fairgrounds. It moved him into a tie with Bryan Smith, Sammy Tanner and Mark Brelsford for 40th on the all-time wins list.
"I came off turn four and Sammy went sideways and I had such a good run, and I drafted and ran on by," said Jared Mess, who last won a National at the Joliet Half-Mile in July of 2007. "It was perfect. I can't even explain the emotion right now. It's not going to sink in for another seven days or so. I'm so excited right now, and I owe it all to my team. They do a great job backing me and I knew it was just a matter of time. My bike was a rocketship. We made a call for the main event with the gearing, and it was perfect."

Nichole Cheza Places 12th in Springfield Mile!

National Cycle sponsored racer #15 Nichole Cheza also had a great day in Springfield:
"I was excited to make the Springfield Mile main event for the second time. After watching the last heat race I was getting ready for the main event. I would be on the third row so I was going to have to do some work. I again didn't get a great hole shot but after making a good first corner I came out in 8th. I was pretty excited but knew I still had 25 laps to go.
"I was running a pretty steady pace and catching Willie McCoy when the red lights came on. A couple riders put their hands up and I shut off. When I finished the turn coming out of four I had seen the green flag was still waving. I immediately took back off however the group behind me had caught up. This put me in a five-way battle. The whole race we went back and forth swapping positions.
"When the checkered flew, I ended up finishing 12th as my last-minute move to draft at the line backfired when someone almost crashed right in front of me. I was very excited about making the main event and running pretty strong throughout most of the race."

Cruiseliner Saddlebags in the Grand Canyon State
"Here are some pics of your Cruiseliner™ Saddlebags. I had these custom painted at a local paint shop to match the 100-Year Edition paint job on my 2003 FXD. I get comments from passersbys even in mall parking lots about the good looks of this bike. The bags really add to the look.
"The brackets set these bags out a ways from bike but I don't find it detracts from appearance or functionality. Had to change out the standard tail lights for ones that didn't stick out so far. No major issues with mounting after that, though. Have had these for four years and 35,000 miles now. Have taken them touring for 3-day trips. They're still going strong. You can see from some of these pics that I also added the National Cycle Hand Deflectors.

National Cycle's "Polycarbonate vs. Acrylic Challenge"
was a SMASH at Indianapolis Dealer Expo!
Part of our booth at the Indianapolis Dealer Expo, just before the doors opened to motorcycle dealers from all over the world. On the right is our "Polycarbonate vs. Acrylic Challenge", a specially constructed display that holds one polycarbonate windshield and one acrylic windshield... and one baseball bat!
A visiting dealer takes a whack at the polycarbonate screen (right) and strikes out. It just won't break! But one swing at the acrylic shield (left) and...
...the pieces go flying. By the end of the weekend, the bottom of the display (above) contained the jagged remnants of over 50 acrylic windshields. Not a single one could stand up to the Polycarbonate vs. Acrylic Challenge!
Broke Bat Mountain! This dealer was determined to break our windshield, but all he could do was break the bat. Polycarbonate strikes back! We didn't bring a spare polycarbonate windshield, but we should have brought a spare baseball bat.
